Operation Theatre Technology (OTT)

An Operating Theatre Technician supports the surgeon and anesthesiologist during surgical procedures. They are responsible for preparing the operating theatre, maintaining surgical equipment, setting up equipment, ensuring proper functioning, preparing patients for surgery, assisting the surgical team with equipment arrangement, managing supplies, and ensuring patient positioning as required. Additionally, they are trained in the use of various diagnostic equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and defibrillators. Their training also focuses on infection control policies and procedures in the operating theatre.

This program equips candidates with the necessary skills to function as a proficient and dependable technologist in the operation theatre. They will work alongside other team members in a healthcare department, providing patient care under the supervision and guidance of senior doctors and technical personnel.

Duties of an Operation Theatre Technician:

• Preparing the operating room
• Making sure all necessary supplies and surgical tools are sterile and ready
• Keeping track of all items used during surgery to make sure nothing gets misplaced
• Providing other assistance during the operation
• Delivering the patient to recovery
• Cleaning up the operating room after surgery
• Keeping a record of all the instrument & equipment
